Johore Battery

The Johore Battery offers you a unique insider look at how batteries were constructed during World War 2. Built in 1939 by the British for the defence of Singapore it supported three massive guns that could fire 15 inch shells at opposition. The vast labyrinths of tunnels below that you can now explore were used to house ammunition to support those three guns.

The locations of the tunnels were kept secret until the Singapore Prisons Department rediscovered them in April of 1991. You now can view a monster gun and some replica 15 inch artillery shells at the Johore Battery.

The Johore Battery is open from 9AM until 5PM Monday to Friday and entrance is free. The tour length is around thirty minutes.

In order to get to the Johore Battery take the SBS Bus 2 from the Tanah Merah MRT station. If you would like to cut down on your travel time you could consider using a taxi service.
