haw par villa

Haw Par Villa

Formally known as the Tiger Balm Gardens constructed in 1937 by “Tiger Balm King” Aw Boon Haw, Haw Par Villa is a very unique attraction that is a must see for anyone. The goal of the park was entertainment to teach and preserver Chinese values. The collection of 150 giant tableaux and over 1000 statues are centered on Chinese folklore, legends history and Confucius beliefs. Tales that you can learn about include memorable battles between good and evil and tributes to Chinese cultural heroes such as Wu Song who tamed a tiger with nothing but his hands.

Attractions within Haw Par Villa include ostriches, koala bears, pandas, a 7000 kilogram scowling gorilla statue, a monstrous sumo wrestler statue, the Statue of Liberty, the ten courts of hell, Thai dancers and water gardens that contain live fish.

Haw Par Villa is open daily from 9AM until 7AM and admission is free. You can get to it by travelling to the Haw Par Villa MRT station which will be completed in the upcoming future but as of right now there are many public transportation routes that travel right by Haw Par Villa.
